The Guatemalan state health agency’s 6-year contract for purchasing dialysis bags is about to expire. A new auditor (son of an ex-judge) is in charge of reviewing all of the bids and decides to make a private deal with an ex-girlfriend who works for a competing pharmaceutical company. -

A large number of dialysis patients suddenly start getting sick and die after using new dialysis bags from the new vendor, which illegally outsources their manufacture since they don’t have the resources. The District Attorney is not satisfied with simply arresting the crooked auditor: He orders the arrest of his innocent board members. -

Since so many judges who refuse to take the case, 4 people are in jail for an extended amount of time, even though only two of them are truly guilty. After the first judge finally accepts the case, then he has to disqualify himself when the mother of the corrupt auditor makes ex-party communication with him. When the case finally gets to trial, only two of the convicts are still alive.
